First Aid at Work Revalidation (2 day course)
This qualification is aimed at those who are responsible for First Aid in the Work environment and have previously held a First Aid at Work Qualification. It is certificated through Safety Training Awards (awarding body) and it is their requirement that previous qualification should be longer than 3 months.
The QCA First Aid at Work Course lasts for 12 hours and your attendance for all of these hours is required in order for you to complete the course.
Topics covered
Understand the role of the first aider including reference
The importance of preventing cross infection
The need for recording incidents and actions
Use of available equipment
Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizures)
Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation including use an Automated External Defibrillator
Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries
Provide first aid to a casualty with Injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal cord injuries
Provide first aid to a casualty with Chest Injury
Provide first aid to a casualty with Burns and scald
Provide first aid to a casualty with Eye Injury
Provide first aid to a casualty with Sudden Poisoning
Provide first aid to a casualty with Anaphylactic
Provide first aid to a casualty with Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid.

Assessment of Practical
You will need to demonstrate competence through internal assessment for:
Unconscious casualty
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation including us of an Automated External Defibrillator
Wound Injury including management for Shock
Fracture Management including elevated and support sling
Conscious casualty
Spinal Cord Injury Management
Choking casualty including the use of a Choking Vest
Pre-requisites
You will need to provide a copy of your previous Ofqual or Volunteer Services First Aid at Work Certificate prior to the course which has not expired more than 3 months.
Mobility Issues
The course is practical and will involve you completing skills on the floor. If you have any mobility issues please discuss these with us prior to the course.
